At the end of the Sea Road, lies a little beach shop that holds so much nostalgia and affection for generatons of visitors and locals alike. Ice-creams, coffee, a treat after a swim and a day on the sand at this much loved destination beach. Award winning Irish Artist Maria Dowling has recreated Ballymoney Beach Shop in this wonderful new original work.
Maria paints primarily in oils starting off thinly and building up the texture. She likes to paint in a representational way, It is her aim to have a story to tell in the painting. Maria is happiest if one of her paintings stirs up a memory or a resonance with the viewer. She paint landscapes but usually there will be water somewhere in the painting. Maria lives in the beautiful Blackwater Valley in Co Cork but is a frequent visitor to North Wexford.
