The Slip Way i by Kevin Roche

The Slipway i is a new original work from multi award winning Irish artist Kevin Roche featuring the view from the slipway beside the RNLI station in Courtown, Co. Wexford.   As always with Kevin's works, his use of impasto brings a rich interplay of colours, depth, and texture.  The canvas is generously coated with thick layers of paint, creating a tactile and expressive surface.

Tara Hill feautures on the right side of the painting.   In the foreground the sea, stretching out into the distance, is a mesmerising mosaic of rich blues. The impasto technique is used to its fullest here, with various shades of blue, from deep navy to cerulean, layered in thick, textured strokes. The crests of the waves are highlighted with ridges.

Throughout the painting Kevin has used rich, vibrant colours that pop from the canvas. The colours of the coastline, the warm golden tones of the beach, and the various blues of the sea all combine to create a visually striking and harmonious composition.  The painting captures beauty, the ever-changing seascape, and the profound sense of place in North Wexford. It's a masterpiece that invites viewers to not just see but to experience the coastal landscape.
