Alison comes originally from Wicklow, but has lived for most of her life in Scotland, growing up in Glasgow and finally settling with her family in Dumfries and Galloway where she remained for 27 years. From there she spent most holidays in Ireland, and was so inspired by the landscape artists of West Cork that she herself began to paint. During the last 12 years she has had 3 very successful exhibitions in partnership with a fellow artist, and in June 2017 she returned to her Irish roots, moving over to Askamore, Co.Wexford. Landscape has always been her preferred genre, and oil her preferred medium. Always she has been fascinated by light, especially the way in which the light of early morning or late evening is reflected on land, water or snow. Oil is usually applied thinly in many coats to create luminescence. Since moving back to Ireland, the luminous landscape of North Wexford has become her constant inspiration.
