Irish artist Siobhan Heraty is a self-taught contemporary abstract artist living in Dublin, Ireland. Inspired by the ever-changing constancy of sky and sea, Siobhan creates abstract paintings in an abstract impressionist style. These paintings evoke a sense of space, freedom, mystery and possibility. Siobhan’s pieces are atmospheric and contemplative, often bringing to mind a sense of awakening or journeying. A common theme is the emergence of light. The finished pieces provide a place for the mind and heart to rest, wander and wonder.
“The initial composition of each painting usually finds its form quite quickly. After that most of my paintings go through many iterations – often changing colour completely but always retaining their original essence. I work intuitively with acrylics and mixed media, building texture, making marks and layering colour.Finding light and movement is a vital part of the process for me and I know a painting is complete when it elicits that same feeling of contemplation, expansion and belonging that being in nature brings. My works hangs in private collections in Ireland and the US and is shown as part of group exhibitions in Ireland.
