Sam Toft

Sam Toft is a contemporary artist based in Brighton, an area that features regularly in her work. Her art is known for its warm, light brand of humour, focusing on the more eccentric side of coastal life. Sam’s art is uplifting, designed to raise a smile on a dark day. She likes to use oil-pastel crayons. She also likes to work quickly.  Sam’s artwork all take place in an imaginary world of her own creation. Its inhabitants are Ernest Hemmingway Mustard, his wife Violet, and their many animal friends. They like to go to Brighton beach, but you’re just as likely to find them anywhere in the world.  Some days are harder than others, but they’re always likely to raise a smile.
