Nick Munier

“Art has been my passion from a young age and I have a strong desire to create. A lot of love flows into my artwork. I think that is why abstract art in general appeals to me so much because the outcome is not fixed during the creative process. Painting allows me to escape from the world. Restaurants, everyday visuals, colours, music, places and people’sclothing are sources of inspiration to me. I enjoy working with bright primary colours and I mainly paint with acrylics and oil sticks, coupled by collage and décollage on canvas, board and paper.”

As former Maitre d’Hotel on ITV’s prime-time reality show Hells Kitchen and co-presenting Masterchef Ireland,  Nick has been lucky to have worked with some of the restaurant greats and has owned and operated fine dining restaurants, all the while creating abstract art.   He works up to 10 hours a day in his purpose-built studio in Dublin.

A lot of love flows into my artwork. I think that is why abstract art in general appeals to me so much, because the outcome is not fixed during the creative process. Painting allows me to escape from the world. I draw inspiration from many everyday visuals, colours, music, places and people. I’ve been lucky to have travelled extensively over the years.”
